Puducherry: The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) will serve as a regional hub for the “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan”, a 16-day nationwide health campaign for women and children to be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday.

The campaign, coinciding with the 8th Poshan Maah, is billed as the largest outreach initiative of its kind with over one lakh health camps planned across the country. It is jointly spearheaded by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Women and Child Development.

JIPMER will join the national launch virtually from the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Auditorium between 11.30 am and 2 pm. Following the inauguration, the institute will roll out the programme at its Screening OPD by registering beneficiaries for health check-ups and medical services, officials said.

The Puducherry-based institute said it is committed to delivering preventive healthcare and nutrition services to women and children, while also promoting health education and community-based interventions aimed at strengthening families.
