Coimbatore: With Class 12 results set to be released on May 9, students and parents are actively exploring higher education options.

Educationist Ashwin has predicted that Economics and Computer Science will emerge as popular choices in the upcoming academic year.

Speaking to reporters, Ashwin said that B.Com. remains a preferred course in the Arts and Science stream, while demand for Economics is steadily rising due to its strong career prospects.

“In Engineering, Computer Science continues to be in high demand. Electronics and Communication Engineering is also attracting a large number of aspirants this year. Additionally, courses in Artificial Intelligence and Computer and Communication Engineering are gaining popularity,” he said.

Ashwin further noted that only around 40 colleges in Tamil Nadu currently offer skill-based education aligned with industry requirements. He advised students and parents to visit colleges personally and verify infrastructure and placement opportunities before making a choice.

He also emphasized the importance of being prepared with necessary documents ahead of admissions and highlighted that many international institutions are opening up opportunities for Indian students.

“Students should focus on studying well and making informed decisions about their future,” he added.
