Chennai: The written examination for the Police Sub-Inspector (SI) post in Tamil Nadu will be conducted on December 21 for over three lakh candidates, the Uniformed Services Selection Board announced.

The board had earlier announced on April 4 that 1,299 SIs would be selected for the Tamil Nadu Police Department. Online applications were accepted from August 7.

The written test was initially scheduled for August 18, but it was later postponed, leaving candidates in a state of uncertainty.

A fresh notification has now fixed December 21 as the date for the written examination. The board has instructed Police Commissioners and District Superintendents of Police to set up 42 examination centres across the state to facilitate the process.
