Chennai: The Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship will conduct a series of technical skills competitions at the district, state and national levels under the 'Skill India' initiative to identify students who will represent India at international platforms.

The contests are being organized to select candidates for the Asian-level Technical Skills Competition, scheduled to be held in Taipei, Taiwan in November, and the World Skills Competition, which will take place in Shanghai, China in September 2026, officials said.

Students showcasing proficiency in various domains, including architectural creativity and information and communication technology, are eligible to apply. Registrations can be completed through the official portal www.skillindiadigital.gov.in
until September 30, the ministry said in a statement.

The competitions aim to foster innovation, technical excellence and competitiveness among young talents, enabling them to gain global exposure and enhance employability. Winners of the national-level rounds will get an opportunity to compete internationally, where participants from multiple countries will demonstrate expertise in advanced skills and technologies.

The initiative aligns with the government's vision of promoting “Skill India” and creating a skilled workforce capable of meeting international standards, the ministry added.
