Dehradun (Uttarakhand): The CSIR-Indian Institute of Petroleum (CSIR-IIP), Dehradun, marked the Rashtriya Boudhik Sampada Mahotsav (RBSM) 2025 with a day-long celebration on Wednesday to raise awareness about intellectual property (IP) rights in India. The event is part of the Government of India's Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative and has been observed annually since its inception in July 2023.

The programme commenced with traditional lamp lighting and Saraswati Vandana. Dr. Deepti Agrawal, In-charge of the Intellectual Property Management Group (IPMG) at CSIR-IIP, delivered the opening remarks.

This was followed by a brief address from Dr. Harender Singh Bisht, Director, CSIR-IIP, who emphasized the institute's commitment to innovation and IP protection.

Dr. Kapil Arya, Invited Speaker from CSIR-Innovation Protection Unit, New Delhi, delivered a keynote address on “Feel the Beat of Intellectual Property Rights,” offering insights into the fundamentals of patenting. His session concluded with an engaging interaction with scientists and research scholars.

Dr. N. Vishwanadham, Chairman of the Patent and Publication Committee (PPC), also addressed the gathering, sharing experiences related to patents and the innovative technologies emerging from CSIR-IIP.

An online quiz competition on intellectual property was also held as part of the celebrations, encouraging participation from the research community and fostering IP awareness.
