Chennai: IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation has partnered with France's L'École Nationale de l'Aviation Civile (ENAC) to offer a specialised programme in Aviation Safety Management (ASM) aimed at strengthening aviation safety standards in India and the region.

The second batch of the programme, supported by aircraft manufacturer Airbus, is scheduled to commence tentatively in February 2026, with applications open until January 31, 2026. The course will have an intake of up to 30 participants, IIT Madras Pravartak said on Tuesday.

Chief Executive Officer of IIT Madras Pravartak, M J Shankar Raman, said the programme seeks to equip aviation professionals with both technical expertise and operational judgement needed to enhance safety across the aviation ecosystem. He said the first batch, currently under way, has received encouraging feedback from participants.

The two-year programme is designed for professionals working in airlines, airports, air navigation service providers, maintenance and overhaul organisations, training institutions and civil aviation authorities. The curriculum will be delivered by expert faculty from ENAC, who will travel from France to conduct in-person sessions.

The programme includes periodic classroom modules, a six-month project or dissertation, and a focus on behavioural competencies such as leadership, communication and decision-making, officials said.

IIT Madras Pravartak is a Section 8 company housing a Technology Innovation Hub under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems, hosted by IIT Madras.
