Coimbatore: Dr. Putra Pratap, Chief Scientist at the Sugarcane Breeding Institute in Coimbatore, has been recognized with the prestigious Tamil Nadu Scientist Award for his outstanding contributions to research and social development.
Presented by the Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Council, the award acknowledges his efforts in advancing the social sciences, particularly through his work in remote and underdeveloped regions. The 2021 award includes a cash prize of ₹50,000 and a certificate of appreciation.
Dr. Pratap's innovative research spans multiple fields, including sugarcane cultivation, as well as sheep and rabbit farming. He was honored in a ceremony held in Chennai yesterday, where Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister and Chairman of the Council, K. Ponmudi, presented the award.
The event was attended by the Council's Vice President, Pradeep Yadav, and Member Secretary, Vincent, among other dignitaries.
