Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Indian Institute of Skills (IIS) in Mumbai via video conference today, part of a Rs 7,600 crore development initiative in Maharashtra.
Aimed at bolstering India's workforce for Industry 4.0, IIS Mumbai focuses on training in advanced technologies like factory automation, artificial intelligence, mechatronics, and data analytics.
Established through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) between the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Tata IIS, the institute aspires to create an industry-ready workforce for both domestic and global markets.
Initially offering six specialized courses, including Electric Vehicle Battery Specialist and Advanced Robotics, IIS Mumbai provides cutting-edge technical training.
PM Modi emphasized India's role as a hub for human resources, stating that confident and skilled youth are shaping the nation's future. He underscored the government's alignment of skilling programs with global standards to enhance job opportunities worldwide.
Minister of State for Skill Development Jayant Chaudhary noted that the institute will equip Indian youth with expertise to compete globally, advancing the Prime Minister's vision of India as the "Skill Capital of the World."
