Chennai: Canon has unveiled a significant expansion strategy for its core business segments in India, emphasizing imaging, printing, and surveillance, alongside ventures into semiconductor, flat panel display, and medical industries.

During a strategy meeting in Mumbai, Canon's global leaders highlighted India's pivotal role in their growth plan.

Canon plans to introduce advanced lithography solutions for semiconductors and flat panel displays, prioritizing eco-friendly practices and superior customer service. This move includes talent development initiatives to bolster India's semiconductor industry.

In healthcare, Canon aims to expand its presence with advanced diagnostic imaging systems and healthcare IT solutions, addressing the rising demand due to lifestyle diseases like cardiovascular issues, cancer, and diabetes.

Mr. Howard Ozawa, Executive Vice President of Canon Inc., underscored India's dynamic economy and tech-savvy population as key drivers for Canon's strategic ambitions. He expressed optimism for Canon India to emerge as a leading company in the region by 2035, contributing significantly to Canon Asia's global sales.

Mr. Kazunori Iwamoto highlighted Canon's advanced semiconductor technologies, such as Nanoimprint lithography, which offers a simpler and more energy-efficient alternative to conventional methods. Canon's approach includes developing local talent through global training programs to support the semiconductor industry's growth.

In the medical field, Mr. Koh Yamada emphasized Canon Medical Systems' commitment to providing high-quality services and innovative technologies to improve patient outcomes in India. Canon's comprehensive portfolio includes diagnostic and interventional imaging systems, with a focus on integrating AI for enhanced diagnostic capabilities.

Canon's long-standing leadership in the digital imaging industry, particularly in the Digital Interchangeable Lens Camera market, and its innovative solutions in printing and surveillance, further reinforce its commitment to expanding and strengthening its market presence in India.
